Frequently asked questions.

Recall doesn't store the actual file, only a copy of the information about the file, along with an optional thumbnail. Our goal is to provide you with overview information to see which drives are storing your backups, so you can know with confidence where they are without having to plug in a drive.
For free accounts, we do not store any files on the cloud - only on your computer. Paid subscribers have the option to sync to the cloud, allowing for drive and file syncing with team members and access to future features that we believe you'll find exciting. All locally stored files are encrypted.
Currently, Recall only stores metadata that is pulled directly from the clip. We're not smart enough (yet) to know if there's a dog or a boat in your pictures. If you believe this feature would be valuable, please email us—we're always exploring new possibilities.
We've designed Recall to be incredibly small and efficient. If you're conscious about space and saving many hard drives, we recommend opting out of saving thumbnails, as these typically use more space than the file information itself.
